Taste-In, Taster Tim Atkin, MW.

Tim has been the wine correspondent of The Observer for over a decade. He also writes for Woman and Home, Decanter and The World of Fine Wine. He appears regularly on BBC One's Saturday Kitchen and has  presented the wine series, ‘Grape Expectations’ on the Carlton Food Network.


Tim is the winner of many awards, having collected five Glenfiddich Awards, four Prix du Lanson and he has been voted the UK Wine Guild Columnist of the Year on four occasions.  In 2007 he won the International Wine & Spirit Competion's Wine Communicator of the Year Award.

Tim has contributed to a number of books on wine, including the ‘New World of Wine’, as well as writing two of his own – ‘Chardonnay’ and ‘Vins de Pays d'Oc’. He was also the co-author with Anthony Rose of five editions of the annual consumer guide, ‘Grapevine’.

Tim has been a Master of Wine since 2001. He has judged wines in the UK, France, the United States, Argentina, Spain, South Africa, Chile and Australia and is co-chairman of the International Wine Challenge, the world’s biggest blind tasting competition.

As a wine presenter, Tim has lectured to banks, firms of solicitors and wine associations and clubs throughout  the UK. He has also appeared on the wine and food stage at the BBC Good Food Show alongside well-known chefs Ainsley Harriott, Ken Holmes, Gary Rhodes and Antony Worrall-Thompson.
