Taste-In, Taster Michael Broadbent, MW.

Originally trained as an architect, Michael Broadbent became a Master of Wine in 1960 and head of the Christies’ Wine Department in 1966. He has been Chairman of the Institute of Masters of Wine, and International President of the Wine and Food Society.


Michael has collected many international awards during his career and was named ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Merite’ by the French Government.

Apart from being an auctioneer, Michael writes for a number of international publications including Decanter. His book, ‘Wine Tasting’, first published in 1968, has since become a classic. 

Michael wrote ‘The Great Vintage Wine Book’ in 1980 and then in 2002 the multi-award winning ‘Vintage Wine – Fifty Years of Tasting Over Three Centuries of Wine’. Michael is an experienced speaker and lecturer and he continues to travel the world tasting its greatest wines.
