Taste-In, Taster Ch’ng Poh Tiong.

Ch’ng is publisher of The Wine Review, the most established wine publication in South-East Asia, Hong Kong and China. In 2000 he published the world’s first “Guide to Bordeaux in Chinese” and the annual “Asian Sommelier’s Guide”. Ch’ng is the wine columnist for Lianhe Zaobao, Singapore’s most popular Chinese daily and his articles have also appeared in China’s Food & Wine, Vino, Vogue and Wine in China magazines.

Ch’ng Poh Tiong has a strong international reputation and is a regular contributor to l’Amateur de Bordeaux of France, UK’s Harpers, World of Fine Wine and Decanter, for which he also writes a monthly column.

Ch’ng is a regional Chairman and judge for Decanter magazine’s World Wine Awards. Founder of Sommelier Seminars and Sommeliers of Asia, he also organized the first-ever sommelier’s seminar in China in 2004.

Ch’ng is an experienced speaker and is renowned and much respected on the international professional wine circuit having addressed audiences in Vienna, Paris, Osaka, Christchurch, Bejing, Wellington and Piacenza. He lectures extensively on wine throughout Asian countries including India, Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan and Singapore.

Ch’ng is founder of the Lianhe Zaobao Wine Review Annual Wine Challenge, Singapore’s first independent wine competition. He recently founded the International Congress of Chinese Cuisine & Wine and will be holding the first session in China in 2008. He is fluent in English, Chinese, Cantonese and Fukienese.
